Stewardship Resources
The Stewardship Center has an array of resources and materials for your use. Workshops and training sessions are each created with a distinct Moravian feel...consistent with our unique theology and practice of the Christian faith!
Workshops and sessions include:
"Good $ense...Biblical Financial Principles for Transforming Your Finances and Life"...based upon the materials written by Dick Towner and John Tofilon and published by the Willow Creek Association, this 6-hour workshop offers individuals, couples, families and congregations an understanding of how best to use money based upon biblical principles. Sessions will focus on earning, giving, saving, spending, debt management, making a spending plan and record keeping. Flexible in presentation, this series can be taught over a series of weeks or as the major focus for a day or weekend retreat. See the Upcoming Events Page for a schedule of Good $ense seminars.
"The Covenant Stewardship Series...A Manual to Teach and Foster Biblical Stewardship"...This resource, written from the perspective of our unique covenant theology and practice, has been produced and a copy distributed to every Moravian Church in the Northern Province. It offers outlines and specific programs for stewardship education. Step by step, members will be invited and encouraged to grow as disciples as they annually "covenant" with God to take intentional steps forward, sincere efforts to increase their understanding and practice of how they worship, pray, learn, claim, serve, earn, give, save and spend.
"Facing the Financial Challenges of Congregational Leadership"...Funding ministries that nurture persons in their faith while at the same time meeting the bottom line is a challenge at many levels, especially for staff and volunteer leaders. During this session we will develop guidelines for leading your congregation. Included will be an understanding of the financial reality of your situation, what is needed to fulfill your congregational mission, and roles that leaders and members must assume for "success".
"Claiming Your Purpose and Defining Your Mission"...discerning the Lord's will for your congregation; claiming the mission, vision and purpose God has for you and the resources God gives to get it done. We will also create specific goals and strategies to fulfill this mission.
"The Mission Congregation - Teaming and Planning for Success"...The energy across the Province is remarkable as the Moravian Church is embracing as never before the practical work of helping its members and congregations define themselves in "mission" terms. The questions are no longer, "What do we do to raise the resources to survive?", but "Who are we as a part of the Body of Christ and what is our mission and purpose as disciples?" When that question is answered, then the work of forming ministry teams and making ministry plans begins.
"Stewardship for Your People...Unlocking the Secrets to Success...A Seminar for Church Members and Leaders"... Using the creativity of PowerPoint, we will experience steps that lead to successful ministry and help members become more committed followers of Jesus Christ. We will review a "financial audit" of Americans, consider the primary goals of stewardship and discuss key questions that church leaders must ask. We can help church members to be motivated to increasingly worship, learn, serve and give.
"Jesus on Leadership"...Based upon the book by C. Gene Wilkes of the same title, we will discover the secrets of servant leadership from the life of Christ. This creative look at the well-known text in John's gospel of Jesus washing the disciples' feet will invite leaders to see their service to the Lord within the local church and beyond in new and exciting ways.
"The Power of Asset Mapping"... Based upon the book of the same title by Luther Snow, we will look at ways to approach needs, solve problems and raise resources using the stewardship principle of recognizing assets and the fact that the cup is really half full!
"Getting Stewardship Started and Forming an Excellent Stewardship Committee"...a basic workshop and time of discussion for the congregation that has not done stewardship education for a very long time...and wants to get started!
"To Each Has Been Given"... helping people of faith to discover their spiritual gifts through bible study and use of a spiritual gifts inventory.
"Proven Principles for Stewardship Success'... a review of 15 stewardship strategies that have been successful in other congregations.
"Children and Money...The First National Bank of Dad"...based upon the book by David Owen, we will examine how best to teach children about money and its proper use. How do we help children experience money? How do we foster generosity? How do we set an allowance? How do we create a biblical understanding of money? How does this "fit" within the realities of our culture and opportunities to spend and spend...more and more.
