August 2007

TO:                 Eastern District Congregations

FROM:           Eastern District 2008 Synod Planning Committee

We greet you on behalf of the members of the 2008 Eastern District Synod Planning Committee who are busy preparing for our gathering next year.  The theme of our synod will be “One in Mission, One in Call” and we are planning several things for synod that will affirm our unity.

We are asking each of our district churches to send 25 digital pictures capturing life in your congregation to our committee by January 1st. These pictures will be used in a variety of multimedia expressions.

Following are the shots we are requesting from each congregation:

1. your church sign

2. your church building

3. a cross in your church

4. the pulpit

5. the church kitchen

6-9. pictures of items unique to your church

10. your pastor/s

11-17. close up of children’s faces (7 pictures)

18-25. pictures of people in action  (8 pictures)

We encourage you take pictures that are bright and colorful. We do ask that as digital pictures are taken they are shot between 72 and 150 dpi; and no smaller than 2” x 3” and no larger than 3” x 4.”  If you have any questions about the size of the photos please contact Jane Burcaw at 610-861-1634 or by email at jburcaw@rcn.com.

Your digital photos can be burned to a CD and mailed to Jane Burcaw at 2535 Hampshire Rd, Bethlehem, PA  18017.  Or you can attach them to email messages and send to jburcaw@rcn.com.  Please attach only 5 pictures/message so they will pass through the security filter.

Please don’t put off taking the photos until the last minute - it would be wonderful if you would begin taking pictures now to get the greens of summer and activity of fall.  You don’t have to wait to send them all at once, you can email the pictures as you take them.

Thank you for your help with this special synod project!

Blessings.
